The Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) wishes to address concerns stemming from a recent notice issued by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) regarding certain study centres. This statement provides clarity on the situation.

  1. We wish to categorically state that the directive from GTEC does not apply to continuing students at the College of Distance and e-Learning (CoDEL) or the Institute for Teacher Education and Continuing Professional Development (ITECPD). All existing programmes and activities within the aforementioned outfits remain operational and without any disruptions. Students currently enrolled will continue their academic journeys seamlessly.
  2. The directive primarily pertains to prospective applicants and admissions for the 2024/2025 academic year. We assure all applicants that there is no cause for concern. Management of UEW is actively engaging with GTEC to address all outstanding matters related to the notice, ensuring a swift resolution in the best interest of all stakeholders.
  3. Additionally, we reaffirm our commitment to providing quality education in environments that promote effective learning. All prospective students for the 2024/2025 academic year will be assigned to appropriate and learner-conducive study centres approved by GTEC for UEW.
  4. Applications for the 2024/2025 academic year remain open, and we encourage interested applicants to proceed with their applications confidently. The University remains committed to its mission of delivering excellent teacher education and lifelong learning opportunities.

We thank our students, parents, and the public for their continuous trust and support. We will communicate updates on this matter to ensure transparency and peace of mind for all concerned.
