Prof. Delali Kwasi Dake, Head of the Department of ICT Education at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has been selected for the 2026 One Million Leaders Africa (OMLA) Fellowship.

This is a competitive pan-African leadership and sustainability programme run by the Next Leaders’ Initiative for Sustainability (NELIS Africa) based in Japan.

The awardee will join Cohort 5 of the OMLA Fellowship from May to October 2026 in a hybrid format that blends online training, mentorship, networking, leadership development activities and community impact projects across the continent. The programme equips emerging African leaders with practical skills in ethical and transformative leadership, sustainability, resilience, social innovation and measurable community impact.

As part of the fellowship, participants design and deliver leadership and community-based projects that address urgent local challenges. The UEW fellow plans to focus on Responsible AI, digital transformation, computing education, youth empowerment and technology-driven community development. These areas align closely with UEW’s strategic priorities in leadership development, innovation, community engagement, sustainability and preparing future-ready graduates.

“This fellowship offers a powerful platform to translate cutting-edge ideas into tangible solutions for our communities,” the fellow noted. He emphasised a commitment to scaling initiatives that build digital skills, promote ethical adoption of technology and foster inclusive innovation across Ghana and the wider African region.

UEW leadership welcomed the selection as a milestone that underscores the University’s growing impact in shaping leaders equipped to contribute meaningfully to national and continental development. The OMLA programme emphasises applied learning and mentorship. It is expected to strengthen UEW’s ecosystem of partnerships and enhance opportunities for students and community stakeholders.
