Goals and Aims of the Faculty

The Faculty aims to become a Faculty of Excellence that prepares teachers who demonstrate a strong sense of integrity, hard work and dedication to work in the Education Sector and Industry, and to project the image of the University through Teaching, Research and Community Service in Ghana, Africa and beyond.

Objectives of the Faculty

The Faculty has established the following objectives in the areas of teaching, research and community service:

  • equip students with the subject matter of liberal studies, including the theoretical and methodological approaches to the subject
  • provide students with an understanding of social studies as well as the theoretical and methodological approaches to the subject.
  • equip students with an understanding of the theories and concepts of religions and moral education.
  • provide students with an understanding of the theories and concepts of conflict, human rights, and peace studies
  • provide teaching service programmes (Africa Studies and Liberal Studies) to all students in the university
  • provide teaching services to the public as part of the University’s outreach programmes.
  • create an enabling environment for staff to engage in community service to enhance their professional skill and practice.
  • expose staff to the relevance of dealing with community-related challenges for the overall benefit of society.
  • strengthen the research competence of lecturers, particularly at the graduate levels.
  • enhance the research reputation of the faculty as a centre of inquiry and expertise.
  • attract funding to help finance and strengthen the Faculty administration and technical abilities necessary for quality research, curriculum, and instruction.
