Our Mandate

Since

The Division of Public Relations and Communication ensures the effective deployment of available resources to deliver on the overall communication strategy of the University. As the official communications organ, it helps tell the University’s stories to the world by deploying a variety of communication strategies to achieve the unique mission, vision, activities, and programmes of the University and the experiences of people within it.

 

The mandate of the Division includes:

  • Translate the University's vision into strategic communicative activities that will enhance the University's profile and reputation
  • Manage and enhance the University's image and reputation among its various publics
  • Deliver appropriate communication research, analysis, and insight to support management decisions
  • Provide creative, technical, digital and production services to propel the brand image of the University into the public domain
  • Put in place a rigorous structure to manage issues and crises that could potentially ring the University name into disrepute
  • Influence, establish, build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships between the University and its publics
  • Keep an accurate and up-to-date bank of all milestone events of the University, information database, history, culture, and symbols, and store same securely for analyses, and for immediate and future reference
  • Coordinate, process, document and publish information on the University to raise its profile
  • Coordinate, refine, and monitor the efficiency of core messages to ensure consistency and, strategic organisational requirement and best practices
  • Supports the University's leadership and faculty to achieve communication objectives by providing advice and practical support
  • Evaluate integrated strategic communication plan for sectors of the Division and the University to advance brand identity and broaden awareness of its programmes and priorities
  • Help deliver lectures to large classes and global audiences through radio and online solutions
  • Manage multimedia services and technical support for students and faculty
  • Handle events and protocol matters
  • Tell the success stories of the university
  • Manage media relations for the University
