UEW Partners Dext Technology to Advance STEM Education in Ghana
In a stride towards fostering innovation and excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has embarked on a transformative partnership with Dext Technology Limited. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the Council Chamber, North Campus, Winneba, on Wednesday, 20th March, 2023, to herald a new era of collaboration aimed at propelling Ghana to the forefront of STEM pedagogy and practice.
At the heart of this visionary alliance lies a shared commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry, enriching the educational experience for future generations of STEM enthusiasts, and nurturing a culture of research excellence. The MoU underscores a multifaceted approach encompassing curriculum development, hands-on learning initiatives, and capacity-building endeavours designed to ignite a passion for STEM among students and educators alike.
In a gesture of goodwill and collaboration, Dext Technology Limited pledges to furnish UEW with a comprehensive array of materials and resources drawn from its extensive catalogue, facilitating immersive hands-on STEM activities and experiential learning opportunities. As an initial demonstration of commitment, the company has pledged to provide free science sets to UEW for the inaugural year of the MoU's implementation, laying the foundation for a transformative educational journey.
Dext Technology Limited will spearhead the development of a tailored curriculum, workbook, and schedule, meticulously crafted to align with the evolving needs of STEM education in Ghana. Additionally, the company will extend its expertise through comprehensive training programmes for facilitators, instructors, and teachers, equipping them with the requisite skills to harness the full potential of STEM tools and resources.
In reciprocity, UEW assumes a pivotal role in facilitating the seamless execution of the partnership, mobilising stakeholders, and providing the infrastructure necessary for the realisation of shared objectives. From organising training sessions and hackathons to integrating hands-on STEM activities into the academic calendar and examinations, UEW stands poised as a beacon of academic excellence and innovation in the STEM landscape.
The MoU signing ceremony witnessed the convergence of representatives from UEW including Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Victor Antwi, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Mrs. Wilhelmina Tete-Mensah, Ag. Regstrar; Prof. Frimpong Kaakyire Duku, Principal, CODeL; Prof. Hinneh Kusi, Dean, SELLL; Prof. Charles Annobil, Vice-Dean, SELLL and Prof. Sakina Acquah, HoD, Basic Education.
Dext Technology Limited was represented by Mr. Mawuli Amedofu, Ms. Dorcas Seyram Abotsi, Mr. Christian Sackey-Acquah, Mr. Caleb Fugah, and Mr. Charles Ofori Antipem.
