EDUCATION FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED - EVI

type person eye

Students in this unit specialize in the education of individuals with visual impairment, including blindness, low vision, and deaf blindness.

In addition to students learning about anatomical and physiological components of vision, they are introduced to various materials and equipment used in reading and writing Braille.

Students will be equipped with techniques for teaching individuals with low vision in inclusive settings, including orientation and mobility techniques for individuals with VI.

They will develop skills in vision screening, functional vision assessment, and the role of professionals and para-professionals in low-vision services.

The training will also focus on how to communicate with learners with deaf-blindness, their learning needs, screening and assessment, and management strategies.
