The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has uncovered a fraudulent scheme involving Mr. Frank Anderson, an MPhil student in the Department of Special Education, who engaged in admission fraud, certificate fraud, and falsification of academic results. Following an extensive investigation, UEW management has taken the following actions:
- Mr. Frank Anderson has been withdrawn from his current programme of study at UEW.
- The university is following through with processes for pursuing charges against Mr. Anderson for extortion, falsifying university documents, and issuing fraudulent admission letters.
- Students who paid money to have their grades altered have been withdrawn from the university.
- All students identified as having gained admission through fraudulent means will have their admissions revoked.
Investigations revealed that Mr. Anderson misrepresented himself as someone who could manipulate grades, resolve IC grades, and secure “Protocol Admissions” for a fee ranging from GHS 1,000 to GHS 3,000
Despite their attempts, there was no evidence that they accessed UEW’s official grading system (OSIS 2) to alter results. Instead, they created falsified PDF versions of students’ results and fabricated WASSCE certificates to facilitate fraudulent admissions. Mr. Anderson and his accomplices primarily operated within the Suhum, Mangoase, Nsawam, and Winneba areas.
Mr. Anderson is currently in jail for similar offences and remains on trial at the Winneba High Court.
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), hereby completely dissociates itself from the fraudulent activities of Mr. Frank Anderson. He acted independently and without any authorisation from the university.
The University of Education, Winneba upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and does not condone fraudulent activities. The university remains committed to working with law enforcement agencies to ensure that all individuals involved face the full consequences of the law.
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), is firmly dedicated to preserving the integrity of its admissions and academic processes. All official university procedures must be adhered to rigorously. Consequently, UEW will relentlessly pursue and implement robust measures against fraudulent conduct.
