UEW's Duo to Make Waves in Pickleball at 13th All Africa Games

Two outstanding female students from the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Sports (HPERS) in the Faculty of Health, Allied Sciences, and Home Economics Education, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), have been chosen to represent Ghana in pickleball at the prestigious 13th All Africa Games.

Achiaa Doris Cobbinah and Blessing Emelia Azaglo, both students known for their prowess in sports, have garnered attention for their exceptional skills and dedication to pickleball, earning them the privilege of representing their country on the continental stage.

The pickle games, scheduled to take place at the University of Ghana, Legon, from 11th to 16th March, 2024, will witness athletes from across the African continent competing in various sporting disciplines. The inclusion of pickleball, a fast-growing sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, highlights the dynamic nature of the games.

The selection of Cobbinah and Azaglo is a testament to their commitment and talent in the field of pickleball. Both students have demonstrated exceptional skills, sportsmanship, and a deep understanding of the game, catching the eye of selectors who were tasked with assembling the best team to represent Ghana.

Prof. Emmanuel Osei Sarpong, Ag. Dean, Faculty of Health, Allied Sciences, and Home Economics Education at UEW, expressed pride in the achievements of the two students, noting that their selection is not only a recognition of their talents but also a reflection of the HPERS' dedication to fostering excellence in sports.
