Mr. Bright Zinaneeba, a level 100 mobility challenged student in the Department of Special Education (SPED), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has been supported with a custom-made tricycle to enable him to attend lectures and other social functions on time.

The donation was realised on the recommendations of the newly established Disability Desk of the Student Representative Council (SRC).

The Head of SPED, Dr. Yaw Nyadu Offei, speaking on the donation, expressed appreciation on behalf of the beneficiary and commended the student leadership for not only recognising students with significant disabilities but also for going the extra mile to purchase the tricycle to significantly make Bright mobile.

He professed that SPED would continue to educate the University community on the need to support students living with educationally noteworthy disabilities.

“Disability is not inability. Although there are challenges, students with disabilities should not despair. They should continue to chase their academic dreams hoping for the best but preparing for the worse,” he admonished.
