Student Association
Overview/Description: The Association of History Students (ASHIS), comprises all students reading history education at the University of Education, Winneba.
The association has undertaken mayactivities to shape and direct its members since its establishment in the 2014/2015 academic year. In helping to promote the welfare of its members, and in pursuit of academic excellence, the association has since its establishment embarked on educational trips to almost all the regions in the country except Western and Eastern regions to learn and explore. Some of such educational trips are the two times journeys to the Ashanti and Northern regions in the 2016/2017 and 2018/2019 academic years respectively.
ASHIS has also organized programmes such as ASHIS week celebration, which takes place in the second semester of every academic year, ASHIS Get Together, ASHIS Dinner and Awards Night, ASHIS Freshers’ Akwaaba, ASHIS End of Semester Thanksgiving Service and visit to the orphanage homes within Winneba. All these have been done over the years to promote social networking and the spiritual well-being of our members.
Moreover, ASHIS has also reached out to Senior High Schools (SHSs) by organizing periodic inter-SHS debates and also inviting WAEC officers to educate them on how to approach history questions so far as examination is concerned.
The association, since its establishment, has been consistent in ensuring discipline among students within and outside the confines of the university environment. Winning the Best Departmental Association Award in the 2016/2017 academic year demonstrates the level of excellence ASHIS has achieved.
