This Department is responsible for providing opportunities for the continuous development of skills and knowledge of staff of UEW and other related and relevant institutions in the country. The Department works closely with the Department of Human Resource Management of the School of Business and the Division of Human Resource of UEW to develop a comprehensive continuous professional development and training schedule for staff of UEW and other relevant institutions in the country.

The CPD of the ITECPD is to support the delivery of the University’s strategic plan through the provision of structured development programmes, for academic and non-academic staff, to continuously improve the organisations overall people skills, capabilities and competences. The Head of CPD takes and follows the strategic direction from the senior leadership of the University, and as the post-holder, the Head of CPD creates, and delivers an integrated and structured suite of development activities which responds to University’s identified needs and also provides comprehensive support for staff to increase their effectiveness in current and future roles. The Head of CPD’s responsibilities are expanded to the Colleges of Education and any other partner institutions under ITECPD. The Head of CPD reports to the Director of ITECPD

Academic/Professional Programmes

As a Department for Continuous Professional Development,  its main training programmes are categorised into the short-term, medium-term, and long-term. There are also general training programmes for the Colleges of Education affiliated with the University of Education, Winneba under ITECPD. The Department trains the general staff of the University, both academic and non-academic professionals to build and/or renew their existing skills, knowledge and talents with regard to the modern trends in achieving the organizational strategic goals. CPD provides and organizes training workshops, seminars, research, forums etc. and in so doing, brings every staff or employee up to the standards and expectations of UEW.
