Dr. Acheampong, Maxwell PhD
Biography
Dr. Maxwell Acheampong is lecturer in the security and criminology as well as migration disciplines at the Centre for Human Rights, Conflict and Peace Studies, University of Education, Winneba. He obtained a PhD in Migration Studies from the University of Ghana in 2018. He graduated from Weber State University, Utah, with Master in Criminal Justice in June 2006 and BA in Criminal Justice/Criminal Law in 2005 after obtaining Associate Degree in Legal Studies from the University of Eastern Utah in 2003. He has held the following academic and administrative positions: Chairman of the Research Committee, Chairman for Departmental Welfare Committee, Coordinator of Seminars, all under the Centre for Human Rights, Conflict and Peace Studies, and Student Programmes Advisor for the Faculty of Social Science Education, University of Education, Winneba.
He has applied himself to social and economic empowerment of people by relying on research to inform practical decisions and action to solve problems. To that extent, research and teaching continues to be his interest and professional choice. He delights in teaching and working with students to achieve set objectives for improvement of lives. In the last decade, he has been a full-time lecturer at Perez University College and adjunct lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and KAAF University College. Still, the call to train and prepare well-rounded individuals into our corporate, governance, and social fabric for improvement of the human society is my philosophy and drive into academia. He is a staunch member of Institute of Sustainability Management that provides corporate training to organisations including Local Government Service. He has supervised several students in their research works toward Master and Bachelor’s degrees.
He is founding father of Generational Achievers, a youth organization to positively motivate and empower the youth to think about how to solve societal problems. Maxwell holds a reasonable belief that academia must churn out people who can offer solutions to societal problems and act on them.
