The Chaplaincy Board of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on Saturday, 21st June 2025, held a solemn Day of Prayer and Fasting at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, seeking divine intervention and spiritual transformation for the University, its staff and students, and the nation at large.

In his message, Rev. Dr. Joseph Nana Annan encouraged congregants to approach the gathering with hope, trust in God and a commitment to diligently pursue their God-given purpose. “Let us walk in hope and remain faithful to the calling upon our lives. This is a time to realign and refocus as a university community,” he urged.

The atmosphere then transitioned into vibrant worship and adoration, ably led by the Students’ Chaplaincy Committee who ushered participants into a shared moment of spiritual upliftment.

“Normally, we do not hear of such events being organised university-wide, where we intentionally fast and pray for UEW,” she noted. She encouraged participants to treat such gatherings with seriousness and purpose: “Anytime you attend a prayer meeting, take note of something significant. Go with the intention of achieving a specific goal. Write in your diary what you hope to experience as a result of today’s prayers.”

Prof. Esther Danso-Wiredu expressed strong confidence that the day's spiritual activities would result in visible transformation within the University. “We are undoubtedly going to witness a spiritual transformation that will manifest in our daily lives,” she affirmed, as she invoked blessings upon participants and the entire UEW community.

The Day of Prayer and Fasting is part of UEW’s ongoing efforts to cultivate a faith-informed academic environment that upholds spiritual growth alongside intellectual advancement.
