UEW Alumni Association Facilitates Medical Donation to University Hospital
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Alumni Association has facilitated the donation of medical supplies from the Botchway Cares Foundation to the University Hospital in a gesture to strengthen healthcare delivery within the University community.
The donation, which included surgical gloves and plasters, is expected to enhance the operational capacity of the Hospital and improve healthcare services for students, staff and other patrons.
Receiving the items on behalf of the University, Dr. John Kanyiri Yamba, expressed appreciation to the Foundation for the timely support. He commended the Founder of the Foundation, Richmond Botchway, for his compassion, foresight and commitment to student welfare while also acknowledging the role of the Alumni Association and the mentorship of Dr. Samuel Ofori Danquah in inspiring the initiative.
Mr. Botchway, a Level 200 Counselling Psychology student at UEW, explained that the donation was motivated by his desire to contribute meaningfully to the wellbeing of students and the wider University community. He noted that the idea emerged after learning about support extended to the University’s Audiology Centre which inspired him to mobilise resources through his Foundation to support the UEW Hospital.
The Alumni Association commended the Foundation for its generosity and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering partnerships that promote sustainable development and improved welfare within the University.
The initiative highlights the growing culture of service, leadership and collaboration among students, alumni and stakeholders in advancing the development of the University community.
