We Have Made Major Strides in Resolving Student Portal Issue – UEW Vice-Chancellor
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, has unveiled his administration's dedicated efforts to address nearly 98% of student portal issues, ensuring a seamless academic experience at the institution.
Prof. Mitchual credited his predecessor, Prof. Mawutor Avoke, for initiating the resolution process, a mission he continued upon assuming office. This commitment resulted in the publication of approximately 98% of last semester's examination results.
During a familiarisation visit to 11 decentralised institutions in the Effutu Municipality on Wednesday, 15th November, 2023, the Vice-Chancellor expressed his commitment to resolving the remaining portal issues by the end of November.
Addressing concerns raised by some alumni regarding delayed result publications, Prof. Mitchual assured that such issues would be a thing of the past. He emphasised the imminent completion of final-year students' results and the ongoing resolution of registration issues through the portal.
"The final-year students’ results are almost ready, and issues are being resolved for those who were unable to register through their portal. I am confident that those issues will be a thing of the past and will never reoccur," he affirmed.
Prof. Mitchual highlighted the university's integral role in the Effutu Municipality, asserting that the institution is planning a carnival festival to support local economic stimulation. Acknowledging UEW as one of the best teacher training institutions in Ghana and West Africa, he underscored the university's commitment to contributing to groundbreaking research influencing government policy.
The Vice-Chancellor pledged the university's readiness to collaborate with decentralised agencies in Winneba such as the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the College of Community Health Nursing, offering professional programmes in fire safety and health education. He urged continued support from the decentralised agencies to enhance employment opportunities for the indigenous people of Effutu.
During the visit, Ag. Registrar, Mrs. Wilhelmina Tete-Mensah emphasised the necessity of connecting with and introducing the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor to leaders of various institutions in the municipality. The visit aimed to strengthen existing bonds for mutual benefit, fostering collaboration between the university and decentralised agencies of government in the municipality.
The 11 institutions expressed commitment to further collaborations with UEW, commending the institution for providing competent students for internships and graduates for national service. They applauded the university's contributions and encouraged its continued excellence.
