B.Ed. Psychology
Description
The Bachelor of Education in Psychology programme is a four-year programme which aims at providing students with a firm grounding in psychology. As a behavioural science, it will provide students with deeper understanding of human behaviour and also prepare students for the classroom, other work places as well as the wide variety graduate programmes that a first degree in psychology can open doors to. In our current school system where, academic matters are still the main focus of schools, social, economic and political factors have altered the school environment. In this situation psychologists have emerged as advocates for students, providing counselling and emotional support to students to ensure that their emotional issues are addressed appropriately. Therefore, schools need psychologists as part of the school team to provide expertise in addressing the needs of children and create safe and positive school environments conducive to learning. Further psychology as a discipline has a pivotal role in the new school curriculum which focuses on developing learners' creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving competencies.
