UEW Donates to EMA to Support Farmer’s Day Celebration
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), consistent with its commitment to supporting the local community, has donated to the Effutu Municipal Assembly (EMA) for the upcoming Farmer's Day celebration scheduled for Friday, 8th November, 2024.
UEW presented a “Motoking” tricycle to the EMA towards the awards for outstanding farmers in the municipality. This generous gesture is part of UEW's corporate social responsibility and highlights the university's recognition of the crucial role of farmers in Ghana's development.
Prof. Victor Antwi, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UEW, who presented the tricycle on behalf of the University Management, led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stephen Jobson Micthual, underscored the importance of farmers, emphasising their worth of recognition for their tireless efforts in feeding the nation.
Mr. Ebenezer Azasu, Director of Agriculture at EMA, expressed gratitude to UEW for the generous donation. He stated that it would greatly contribute to the success of the celebration. “This isn't the first time UEW has supported the assembly,” he affirmed.
UEW's support for the Farmer's Day Celebration is not a one-time event. The university has consistently contributed to the EMA's efforts, having donated farming items in previous years to support the event.
The Farmer's Day Celebration, held annually, aims to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of farmers across Ghana. This year's event is particularly significant, marking the 40th edition of the celebration with the theme "Building climate-resilient agriculture for sustainable food security”.
