UEW Management Rewards TBSC v5.0 Victorious Team with GH₵12,000
The Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), in a heartwarming display of appreciation and support for academic excellence, has honoured the triumphant team at the Graphic Tertiary Business Sense Challenge (TBSC) v5.0. with a generous reward of GH₵12,000.00.
The presentation of the cash took place yesterday, Monday, 6th November, 2023, at the Council Chamber, North Campus, UEW.
The team not only brought honour to the university but also clinched multiple awards, sparking a wave of pride and admiration across the campus.
Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, Vice-Chancellor of UEW, in his commendation of the triumphant team, emphasised that the Management Team pooled their personal resources to fund this gesture, ensuring that it did not draw from the university's coffers.
"We discovered that the students received all the accolades, but the group of lecturers who played an instrumental role in their success received no recognition or rewards. In light of this, we’re showing our appreciation and support to the team by donating GH₵12,000 as a token of gratitude from the University's Management," he said.
Dr. Emmanuel Erastus Yamboah, Vice-Dean of the School of Business, conveyed the heartfelt gratitude of the team and expressed optimism that the recognition and support would inspire other faculty members to strive for excellence, to retain the coveted TBSC trophy in the upcoming years.
The team's coach, Mr. Samuel Gameli Gadzo, shared his commitment to sustaining the winning tradition. In an interview, he pledged to win the contest at least three times in a row, stating that the students were diligently preparing for future challenges.
"We will hold our entry examination on 15th January, after which the top 10 candidates will commence their rigorous training. Our goal is to hold onto the trophy for a minimum of three consecutive years," he promised.
Mr. Gadzo, deeply conscious of the challenges faced by some of the university's brightest students, revealed that a significant number of prospects came from low-income families and often lacked the necessary resources to excel academically. The generous donation, he noted, would help eliminate some of the financial obstacles these students face.
Furthermore, he disclosed that his team had submitted a proposal to the University's Management, advocating for the waiving of fees for students who qualify to represent the university. This, if approved, could significantly contribute to the sustained success of the UEW students in future TBSC competitions.
The university has not only recognised the outstanding achievements of its students but also exemplified a deep commitment to fostering a supportive and encouraging academic environment for both students and educators. With the promise of continued excellence, the legacy of TBSC v5.0 is sure to live on, and the future looks even brighter for UEW's champions of business acumen.
