UEW GUSA Contingent Receives Support

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) contingents for the 27th Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) games have received assorted items from the executive of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG-UEW) and Dr. Evans Asante, a University Council member, to spur on the contingent for greater laurels at the games.

The contingent received 31 packs of mineral water and eight cartons of plastic Malta Guinness and Beta Malt from UTAG-UEW as well as 15 packs of bottled water, five cartons of Rush energy drinks and five packs of toilet rolls from Dr. Evans Asante.

In a brief remark, the Chairman of the Amalgamated Sports Clubs, UEW, Dr. Emmanuel Osei Sarpong, expressed profound gratitude to the benefactors. He added that the kind gesture will go a long way to make UEW proud at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where the 2022 GUSA games are taking place.

The President of UTAG-UEW, Dr. Pascal Kpodo, was delighted about the high level of morale in camp. He hinted of plans to watch the team in action during the games.

“Personally, I have not had the opportunity to watch you in action but this year, I am planning to do that. So, the UTAG executive is solidly behind you. We want you to know that this is only the beginning of greater things to come,” he said.    

The Vice-Dean, School of Creative Arts and member of the University Governing Council, Dr. Evans Asante, who donated to the goalball team, explained that his donation meant to motivate the team to go all the way to win the two gold medals at stake for UEW.

"Please know that we are cheering you on in words and action as you travel. To make the name of the university great, I expect you to work hard. By doing so, you won't only be projecting UEW, you'll invariably make yourselves and your families proud," he inspired the team.

The goalball coach, Eric Aloko, thanked the donor for the honours done to the team. He assured of the determination of the team to deliver the two gold medals in goalball to UEW.
