UEW Enhances Administrative Efficiency Through Specialised Training
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) through the Division of Human Resource (HR) has organised an intensive training workshop for the administrative staff of the university. This proactive initiative is aimed to bolster the efficiency and effectiveness of its administrative staff as a testament to UEW's commitment to excellence and stakeholder satisfaction.
The workshop which drew participation from a diverse range of university administrative personnel, including senior members, senior staff, and junior staff, was held at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre on the North Campus of UEW, Winneba.
Mrs. Wilhelmina Tete-Mensah, Ag. Registrar, highlighted the workshop's primary objectives: firstly, to bolster the skills of administrative staff transitioning from recent job rotations, and secondly, to enhance efficiency in addressing student queries as a new academic year approaches. Expressing concerns about the undue burden on the Student Records Office (SRO), she advocated for decentralised solutions within faculties and departments.
"Management's unwavering efforts to mentor and uplift our employees are evident through workshops like these. Our goal is to witness our staff's success, which is intrinsically linked to the university's overall success," she said.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Victor Antwi, representing Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual as the chair for the occasion, lauded the pivotal role of the registry within the university ecosystem. He emphasised the importance of the administrative staff's approach, urging them to be proactive, disciplined, and change-driven without resorting to confrontations.
Prof. Antwi remarked, "In the competitive landscape of higher education, students stand as paramount stakeholders. Their satisfaction, welfare, and future are intertwined with the university's success. Additionally, the accomplishments of our alumni significantly shape UEW's legacy and sustainability."
The workshop featured in-depth sessions from notable university figures. Mr. Reginald Sitsofe Kwaku Agbo, Deputy Registrar at Ghartey Hall, elucidated the intricate role of administrators in faculty and departmental operations. Meanwhile, Mr. Raymond Bentum Boison, Senior Assistant Registrar and Head of SRO, provided insights into OSIS 2 and elucidated best practices for managing student records, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
The event's success underscores UEW's proactive approach to continuous improvement, ensuring that its administrative backbone remains robust, responsive, and aligned with the institution's overarching goals.
