The Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Neenyi Ghartey VII, conveyed a compelling message to the graduating class, highlighting the swiftly changing dynamics of our world.

He passionately encouraged graduates to not only recognise but actively embrace continuous learning, entrepreneurship, and innovation as indispensable tools to navigate the ever-shifting employment landscape.

The Chancellor imparted this counsel in his welcoming speech at the ongoing 28th Congregation, being held at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba, spanning Monday, 22nd January, to Saturday, 27th January, 2024.

In his address, Neenyi Ghartey VII, underscored the importance of adaptability, stating, "The job landscape itself is also evolving rapidly. Embrace change and be willing to adapt. A resilient attitude towards setbacks will help you persevere and navigate uncertainties, which will make you an attractive prospect for employers and investors alike."

The Chancellor, who is also the overlord of the Effutu Traditional Area, highlighted the role of graduates in promoting sustainable and moral activities for economic progress. He urged graduates to consider the broader impact of their actions, stating, "As a graduate, your actions will impact not only the economy but also societal well-being. Neenyi Ghartey VII passionately advocated for entrepreneurship, continuous learning, teamwork, and mentoring as crucial elements in addressing unemployment and fostering economic growth. He encouraged graduates to proactively use their education to lead, innovate, and create opportunities for themselves and others.

Addressing the issue of unemployment, the Chancellor challenged graduates to see it not only as a hardship but also as an opportunity for creativity and change. He urged them to take the initiative to start their businesses, stating, "Your education has armed you with an inimitable set of skills and knowledge that can be harnessed to drive positive change and foster economic growth."

"Entrepreneurship and innovation are two key avenues through which you can contribute to economic development and employment generation. Identify unmet needs or gaps in the market and explore how your skills can be applied to address them," he advised.

As the 28th Congregation continues throughout the week, Neenyi Ghartey VII's message serves as a call to action for graduates to play an active role in shaping their destinies and contributing to the economic development of the region.
