UEW Chancellor Endorses New Pro-Vice-Chancellor at Palace Ceremony
The Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Neenyi Ghartey VII, who also serves as the Paramount Chief of the Effutu Traditional Area, received a seven-member delegation from the University community at his palace on Friday, 1st August, 2025.
The delegation comprised top University officials, including Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Esther Yeboah Danso-Wiredu, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Mrs. Wilhelmina Tete-Mensah, Acting Registrar; Prof. Frimpong Kaakyire Duku, Principal of the College for Distance and e-Learning; Dr. Theophilus Senyo Ackorlie, Finance Officer; Mr. Steve van Kamassah, Deputy Registrar of the Division of Publications and Communication; and Ms. Rose Asibi Boaha, Chief Administrative Assistant at the University Relations Office.
The delegation formally introduced the new Pro-Vice-Chancellor and presented her to the Chancellor in his dual capacity. A symbolic ceremony was performed as a cultural gesture of respect and allegiance, recognising the Chancellor’s traditional authority.
The Chancellor emphasised character, dedication and vision as the pillars of meaningful transformation.
Beyond the formalities, the session evolved into a strategic dialogue on the state and future of the University. Key concerns such as student apathy, inadequate succession planning and gaps in mentorship and supervision were discussed.
The Chancellor also underscored the importance of visionary leadership, integrity and commitment as critical traits for reshaping the institution. He called for strengthened collaboration between traditional custodians and University leadership to foster holistic educational progress.
The event highlighted the unique blend of cultural reverence and academic excellence, positioning UEW as a university rooted in both tradition and forward-thinking innovation.
As the session closed, one message stood clear: when traditional authority and academic vision align, the future of Ghanaian education finds a stronger foundation.
