Multiculturalism Fair by Department of Counselling Psychology

As part of the drive to create awareness of the indispensability of Multiculturalism in 21st Century counselling practice, the Department of Counselling Psychology is inviting the University community to a programme on the theme "Multicultural competence: The sine qua non for the 21st Century Counselling Psychologist". This also forms part of the practical training of Ph.D and M.Phil. students offering courses in Multicultural Counselling. The programme takes off as follows:

Theme: Multicultural competence: The sine qua non for the 21st Century Counselling Psychologist

Activities for the Day will include the following:

  • Poster presentation (Ph.D and M.Phil. students)
  • Exhibition of indigenous Ghanaian cuisine
  • Sampling Local Ghanaian/health benefits drinks
  • Q & A Session

The objectives of the Multiculturalism Day are as follows:

  • The eventual institutionalization of Multiculturalism Day in the Department of Counselling Psychology
  • Sharpening the presentation skills of Postgraduate students in the Department 
  • To create awareness of the need and benefits of the acquisition of multicultural competence for the counselling psychologist
  • To create awareness among students and staff of the Faculty of Educational Studies in particular, and the UEW community in general on the indispensable role multicultural competence plays in 21st Century counselling practice.
