UEW Governing Council Chairman Meets Management on Reinstatement of Prof. Mawutor Avoke and Five Others

The Chairman of the UEW Governing Council has met with Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) as part of the processes of complying with the Court’s ruling to reinstate Prof. Mawutor Avoke and Five Others to the University.

The Chairman informed Management that Prof. Avoke and the Five Others will resume work with immediate effect. Present at the meeting were Prof. Mawutor Avoke, Dr. Theophilus Ackorlie, Mr. Frank Owusu Boateng, Ms. Mary Dzimey and Daniel Tetteh who are part of staff reinstated.

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Avoke was delighted to be back on campus. He urged all stakeholders to work hard for the advancement of the University. He was optimistic that staff will consciously uphold the provisions of the UEW Statutes and promote fairness and equity.

The substantive Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang, on behalf of Management, pledged support to respect the directives as given by the Council Chairman.

Prof. Mawutor Avoke was later introduced to the Academic Board of the University at an emergency meeting of the Board. He indicated his desire to foster peace and bring reconciliation to the University.
