Cape Coast Judge Refers Suit to Chief Justice for Re-Assignment

The Cape Coast High Court Judge, Her Ladyship, Mills-Tetteh on Friday, 18th November 2022 referred the suit filed against the University of Education, Winneba by the Registrar, Paul Osei-Barimah against being asked to proceed on his Accumulated Leave. Early in the course of the case, the Lawyers for the University filed against the Venue of the suit since there are branches of the High Court at Winneba, Mankessim, and Swedru so the case couldn't have been properly filed at Cape Coast as the venue because the basic principle is that you sue where the defendant lives, and also most of the cases involving the University are handled by the said Judge whose rulings do not go down well with the University's Lawyers.

As a result of these, the University petitioned the Chief Justice through the Judicial Secretary, and a copy was served to the Judge. When the case was called and in line with the standard practice,  the judge had no option but to refer the case to the Chief Justice for it to be re-assigned and directed the court Registrar to do as such.
