Announcement and Caution to Students on Issues Relating to Results/Student Portals
Migration of all outstanding results have been duly completed and confirmed to have reflected in students’ portals. Students who may have some concerns should follow the laid down processes and report to their departmental Examination Officers for redress.
It has come to the attention of Management that some students who legitimately have E’s or IC’s are trying to hide behind the slogan of problems with their portals to create the impression that there are indeed issues with the results or portals. It is worth noting that some of these issues arose from the COVID-19 online examination period when some students did not take assessments online and failed to take supplementary or resit examinations afterwards. The data from the VCLASS server and online courses from that period is available for verification. Some students have also not paid fees or registered in previous semesters and are calling for these results to appear in their portals. Students should note that records from the period under reference are available for interrogation. It is important for students to pay their fees and register; then their grades can be keyed in.
Some students are also making false complaints that they have been given wrong grades knowing very well that these grades are authentic because that is what they obtained.
Students who have problems should submit themselves to the verification process which will prove or disprove their claims. Students are advised to desist from making false claims.
It has also come to the attention of Management that some students are planning to embark on demonstrations in relation to problems with their portals.
ANY STUDENT WHO PARTICIPATES IN SUCH UNWARRANTED DEMONSTRATIONS/ACTIVITIES WILL BE SANCTIONED IN LINE WITH THE LAID DOWN RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE UNIVERSITY.
For the avoidance of doubt, students are reminded of the clause in their admission letters which stipulates that “YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO ADHERE TO ALL UNIVERSITY RULES AND REGULATIONS AS CONTAINED IN THE STUDENTS’ HANDBOOK. STUDENTS ARE CONSIDERED TO BE ON PROBATION FOR THE DURATION OF THEIR PROGRAMME AND THEY WOULD BE DISMISSED AT ANY TIME FOR UNSATISFACTORY WORK OR MISCONDUCT”.
Students are reminded that by accepting admission into the University and by your continued stay in the University, you signed on to this agreement and are required to abide by these rules and regulations.
Students are also reminded that the official channels of communication as stipulated in the Students’ Handbook reads as follows: “All students shall follow the laid down procedures to have their academic and non-academic requests met and their complaints resolved……….. For all requests, notifications and complaints from individuals or collective student bodies, the channels shall be:
Academic Matter:
- Course representatives
- Academic Counsellors
- Examination Officers
- Head of Department
- Dean of Faculty
- Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Principal/Registrar
Matters Affecting Students Collectively
- Departmental Student-staff consultative Committee
- Departmental Board
- Faculty Board
- Institutional (Student-Staff Consultative Committee)”.
Management has amply demonstrated its commitment to resolving all outstanding issues with students’ results and portal related issues. We wish to assure all our Dear students that we will continue to give due attention to their concerns until they are all resolved.
All students are therefore entreated to remain calm and lend the needed support to the outlined processes to ensure that you all complete your programmes as planned.
Thank you.
