Department of Educational Administration and Management Holds Maiden Public Lecture

The Department of Educational Administration and Management under the Faculty of Educational Studies (FES) on Thursday, 5th March, 2020 held its maiden public lecture for staff and students of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).

The lecture, which took place at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba, was held on the topic “Beyond the call of duty: a Paradigm Shift for Productivity in Higher Education in West Africa”.

A visiting Professor on sabbatical at FES, Prof. Aloysius Ejiogu who delivered the lecture pinpointed some lackadaisical attitudes most Africans exhibit at work places that results in low productivity. He however, charged participants to be accountable for their actions at their various work places and field of study.  

He pointed out that UEW and Universities in West Africa ought to have a robust overall strategy, exceptional leadership and engage employees to be more successful.

The Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni, who was the chairman for the occasion, encouraged participants to be versatile in discharging their duties to achieve outstanding results for themselves and the University in general.

The Dean, FES, Prof. Samuel Hayford reminded participants of the mission and vision of the UEW and admonished them to grasp that in order to help achieve the ultimate goal of the University.

Present at the event were the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang; Registrar, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq.; University Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Alexander Edwards; Director of Education, Effutu Municipal, Ms. Rose Tenkorang; Deans, Heads of Department, teaching and non-teaching staff and students of the University.
