UEW Pledges Swift Graduation for Distance Education Students
The management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has assured a swift resolution of outstanding issues for the timely graduation of all distance education students.
The assurance was given at a meeting with the Executives of the Distance Education Students Association (DESA), held on Monday, 6th May, 2024, at the Council Chamber, North Campus, UEW, Winneba.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, emphasised the university's commitment to expediting the graduation process, citing proposed plans for the second session of the 28th Congregation scheduled for June 2024 pending approval from the Academic Board. Prof. Mitchual underscored the seriousness management attaches to result publication and congregation ceremonies.
Acknowledging past challenges, Prof. Mitchual expressed determination to address underlying issues swiftly, ensuring smoother processes in the future. He stressed a newfound dedication to efficiency, promising that delays in examination results or publication would be a thing of the past.
Prof. Mitchual urged cooperation and support, encouraging them to advocate through appropriate channels rather than social media platforms. He emphasised the importance of responsible and visionary leadership, calling for ethical and value-driven leadership among students.
In response, Mr. Worlanyo Afelhu, DESA President, expressed gratitude for the university's commitment to resolving the issues promptly. He proposed the implementation of student evaluations for Coordinators and Lecturers at the end of each semester, aiming to enhance accountability and improve the overall educational experience.

As the university gears up for the second session of the 28th Congregation, the assurance of swift action and improved processes signals a positive turn for distance education students at UEW.
