Description
The Department of Political Science Education introduced a one-year (1) top-up programme for students who have already completed the Med in Political Science programme of the Department of Political Science Education, UEW, or from an accredited University to join MPhil programmes in semester 3 and 4. The programme aims to train graduates and equip them with the knowledge and teaching skills to analyze and address governance and public sector-related issues. This programme also aims at equipping and building the capacity of graduates with the knowledge and skills in public administration, international relations and development studies and comparative politics.

The graduates of the MPhil programme will be able to work as:
- Lecturers for Colleges of Education and other tertiary institutions
- Tutors for Senior High Schools iii. Staff or Personnel for political parties
- Politicians and Members of Parliament

- Non-governmental Organizations (local and international)
- Civil Society Organizations (local and international)
- Inter-Governmental Organizations (international)
- Research institutions

The target group of the programme includes members of recognized institutions or organizations such as Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, Political Parties, the Police Service; Prisons Service; Immigration Service; Armed Forces; District, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies, etc.
Entry Requirements for one (1) Year MPhil Top-Up Students
In order to obtain an MPhil Political Science Education degree, such students will have to meet the following requirements:
- Pass in POLI 804: Applied Research Methods in Political Science
- Pass in area core courses or any other course recommended by the Supervisor (s) or the Graduate Committee of the Department of Political Science Education, UEW.
- Participate effectively in all seminars and presentations with MPhil students
- Successful completion of an MPhil Thesis under the direction of Supervisor(s).
- Obtain credit hours requirement (57-63 credits) for the award of MPhil Political Science Education.
