Abstract

The primary objective of this paper was to review the literature on factors influencing students' choice of universities and analyze its applicability to the Ghanaian context for students recruitment into universities in Ghana. The review suggests that factors influencing students' choice of universities are varied and country-context-specific. The conceptual framework postulates that student background, institutional characteristics, net cost, student aspiration, social environment, and institutional climate are key motives of students' choice of institutions of study. A study to test this model in Ghanaian context is suggested.
