UEW-FABSE Empowers Staff Through Insightful Staff Development Workshop
The Faculty of Applied Behavioural Sciences in Education (FABSE) at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), took a proactive step towards enhancing its staff's professional development by organising a comprehensive staff development workshop.
The event, held on Wednesday, 8th November, 2023, at the Student Centre, North Campus, UEW, Winneba, focused on enlightening staff about fundamental conditions of service and efficient document management practices at both departmental and faculty levels.
Ms. Vida Dare, representing the Deputy Registrar of the Division of Human Resource at UEW, led the workshop, supported by a dedicated team from the Division of Human Resource. Ms. Dare delved into essential policy documents used within the university, particularly the unified conditions of service. Her presentation covered crucial topics such as staff promotion, annual leave, sabbatical leave, leave of absence, maternity and paternity leave, secondment, and various other policies. Participants gained insights into accessing these policy documents within the university framework.
The Resource Person emphasised the proper handling of official documents at the departmental and faculty levels. Stressing the importance of following due processes, Ms. Dare highlighted the need for documents to pass through appropriate channels, facilitating easy tracking and tracing. Participants were encouraged to adhere to established procedures when submitting documents to ensure seamless administrative processes.
The workshop garnered positive feedback from participants, who expressed satisfaction with the valuable information shared during the presentation and the interactive question-and-answer session. Retirees in attendance conveyed their joy and gratitude, commending the Dean of FABSE, Mrs. Christina Ammah, for orchestrating such an insightful programme. They highlighted the importance of frequently organising such workshops to keep staff well-informed about the conditions guiding their work at UEW.
