The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), and the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) have forged a strategic alliance to enhance the professional development of proprietors and teachers in private schools.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed at the Council Chamber, North Campus, UEW, on Friday, 28th June, 2024.

Under this collaborative agreement, UEW and GNACOPS will jointly develop and offer courses tailored to empower private school owners with advanced management skills. The partnership will also target research projects addressing critical issues affecting private schools, thereby improving educational practices.

Additionally, the initiative aims to train unqualified private school teachers, enabling them to obtain certificates, diplomas, and bachelor’s degrees, particularly in basic education.

Through its School of Education and Life-Long Learning (SELLL), UEW will support GNACOPS members in acquiring professional teacher status and organising continuous professional development programmes. These programmes will ensure that private school educators and administrators stay updated with the latest knowledge, skills, and competencies essential for effective teaching, learning, and school management.

If we do not place the right teacher with the right attitude and knowledge in the classroom, all our educational reforms may not succeed.
