Welcome Address

Since

The Department of Procurement and Supply Chain Management was established to address the human resource shortfall in the study area. Besides, the enactment of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663) as amended, ushered in new structures, regulations, methods, procedures, variation of approval levels and thresholds for procurement activities in the public sector, thus requiring further training for practitioners. Additionally, with Supply Chain Management being the umbrella body under which procurement, logistics, transportation, warehousing, material handling, and inventory management, among others thrive, it is imperative to offer students, cutting-edge training to be relevant in their world of work, thereby contributing to national development.

Another major motivation for introducing this programme is to bridge the knowledge gap in the study area. Indeed, there is evidence to suggest that not all public entities have engaged the services of qualified procurement practitioners to manage their procurement activities because of inadequate trained personnel. Graduates of the programme having acquired advanced training, will assist the nation in formulating procurement and supply chain management related policies to further drive the country’s developmental agenda forward. Furthermore, the private sector will draw on the expertise of their procurement and supply chain practitioners to improve productivity through efficient utilization of resources and adopt the principle of value for money.

Our department currently offers programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We offer Bachelor of Business Administration in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Master of Business Administration in Procurement and Supply Chain Management (Weekend), and Master of Philosophy in Procurement and Supply Chain Management (Regular). The Department has also submitted a Diploma in Logistics and Transport Management, and Diploma in Procurement Management Programmes which are currently at various levels of approval.

You are cordially invited for a tour of the Department to interact with faculty members, students, and other stakeholders to apprise yourself with happenings in the Department.
