Abstract

The study explored the determinants of market and book-based financial performance of manufacturing companies in Ghana. The data for eleven (11) listed manufacturing companies covering seven years was used for the analysis. The time series and cross-sectional nature of the data necessitated the adoption of the panel regression for the work. The results of the analysis indicated that both the market and book-based financial performance of the manufacturing companies were above the average performance of the manufacturing industry and firm-specific variables such as tangibility, asset structure, and operating cost ratio of the manufacturing companies influenced the book-based financial performance measured as earnings per share (EPS) and Tobin’s Q negatively
