Attitude towards Covid- 19 and Technology Acceptance in Ghana
Ghana recorded its first two cases of COVID-19 in the second week of March 2020. The announcement was charaterized by uncertainties and fears in every facet of the Ghanaian society including corporate entities. It became necessary to live a “new normal”, a term that became very common with respect to adherence to safety protocols outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Ghana Health Service (GHS). The term also became synonymous with new work designs such as flexible work arrangements of fewer work hours per day or week, or even working from home for some categories of workers who are able to use information technology (IT) to work remotely. Regarding the adherence to safety protocols, some employees seem to get in line while at work, but lay down their guard while out-of-sight of management. This paper highlights the need for management to imbibe into their employees a sense of personal responsiveness, and to make them understand the consequences for co-workers, the organization, and clients if any of them should be infected with the virus.
