In a move to combat environmental degradation, the level 300 batch of the Biological Science Students Association (BIOSSA) at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has launched the "Simpa Go Green" campaign.

This initiative, aimed at alleviating environmental pollution, saw the enthusiastic participation of students who planted 1,000 saplings of various species of trees in Winneba Township.

Under the theme "Creating Societal Awareness on Environmental Conservation Through Tree Planting to Make Simpa Green and Cool," the campaign kicked off at the Amphi Theatre, South Campus, Winneba. The event not only marked the beginning of a concerted effort to combat climate change but also emphasised the importance of collective action in safeguarding our planet for future generations.

BIOSSA demonstrated its commitment to environmental stewardship by planting a diverse range of tree species including caccia, teak, mahogany, royal palm, and neem, in partnership with the Effutu Municipal Assembly (EMA) and the Effutu Forestry Commission. These efforts aim to protect biodiversity, mitigate the effects of climate change, and promote sustainable livelihood within the community.
