UEW Partners with Trainora Consult to Build International IT Testing Centre on Campus
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has formalised a strategic partnership with Trainora Consult for the establishment of an International IT Testing Centre on campus to provide globally recognised professional IT certification examinations and digital skills training opportunities for students and professionals.
The collaboration, sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) earlier signed by Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, the Vice-Chancellor of UEW, is expected to position the University as a leading regional hub for international IT certification, emerging technologies and digital skills development within the Central Region and beyond.
The proposed Centre will offer access to internationally recognised certification examinations including Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, AWS, EC-Council, ISC2, Pearson IT Specialist and Project Management Institute (PMP/CAPM) certifications, among others.
Welcoming representatives from Trainora Consult during a formal ceremony to mark the partnership, Prof. Arkoful Sam, Dean of the Faculty of Science Education (FSE), reaffirmed the Faculty’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation and strategic collaborations that strengthen teaching, research and community engagement. He described the partnership as timely and highly relevant, particularly within the rapidly evolving Information Technology landscape.
Prof. Benjamin Ghansah, the Vice-Dean of FSE, highlighted the significance of the collaboration and outlined practical measures to increase student participation while attracting technology enthusiasts from across the Central Region to undertake international-standard certification examinations at the Centre.
Prof. Delali Kwasi Dake, the Head of the Department of ICT Education, expressed excitement about the partnership and acknowledged months of sustained engagement between UEW and Trainora Consult to finalise the collaboration. He stressed that in the era of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies; internationally recognised certifications would give UEW students and graduates a competitive advantage in the global technology industry.
Ms. Rebecca Quartey, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Trainora Consult, expressed appreciation to UEW for the partnership and iterated the company’s commitment to the successful implementation of the initiative.
Mr. Foster Oppong Baah, Founder and CEO of Gumption Excell, who played a key role in facilitating the partnership also underscored the importance of the initiative and outlined marketing strategies to ensure the visibility and success of the International IT Testing Centre.
Under the agreement, Trainora Consult will establish, equip, brand and operate the testing facility while UEW will provide the necessary infrastructure and institutional support for its operations.
The ceremony concluded with renewed commitment from both UEW and Trainora Consult to collaboratively advance academic excellence, professional IT certification and global competitiveness within the rapidly evolving digital economy.
