Examination Officers and Graduate Coordinators Undergo Orientation
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has taken a proactive step in upholding the integrity of its examinations by organising a comprehensive orientation workshop for newly appointed examination officers and graduate coordinators.
The event, held at the North Campus Mini-Conference Room, aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to efficiently conduct examinations.
Under the theme "Expectations of Examination Officers and Graduate Coordinators," the workshop, organised by the Division of Human Resource and the Division of Academic Affairs, featured expert guidance from Mr. Raymond Bentum Boison, Dr. Akwasi Kwarteng Amoako-Gyampa, and Mr. Cletus Kolog Ngaaso.
These experienced professionals delved into the expectations of the Student Records Office (SRO), emphasising the pivotal roles of examination officers and graduate coordinators in ensuring the smooth conduct of examinations at UEW.
In her opening remarks, the Acting Registrar, Mrs. Wilhelmina Tete-Mensah, highlighted the workshop's purpose: ensuring faculty consistency in matters related to examination administration. Mrs. Tete-Mensah stressed the importance of maintaining the sanctity of examinations, stating, "The integrity of our institution hinges on many factors, and one key one has to do with examinations."
Addressing the need for examination results to be intact for timely graduation, Mrs. Tete-Mensah urged participants to familiarise themselves with the fundamental ideas and guidelines governing UEW's examination procedures.
She emphasised the significance of understanding policies to prevent unfortunate incidents in examination rooms, asserting that this orientation is an ongoing effort towards institutional excellence.
In her closing remarks, Mrs. Ekua Abedi Boafo, Deputy Registrar at the Division of Academic Affairs, expressed gratitude to the resource persons for their valuable contributions to the programme's success. Mrs. Abedi Boafo highlighted the correlation between examination integrity and the calibre of students UEW graduates. She urged participants to take collective action to improve the institution and encouraged them to channel suggestions through appropriate channels to enhance structures and systems.
The UEW administration's commitment to excellence and transparency in examinations was evident throughout the orientation workshop. As the university continues its pursuit of academic distinction, these initiatives underscore the dedication to providing a conducive environment for learning and assessment.
