Entry Requirement
I. Category A: WASSCE/SSCE Applicants
Applicants must have CREDITS in THREE WASSCE Core Subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science) and CREDITS in THREE WASSCE Elective subjects (Food and Nutrition, Management in Living, Clothing and Textiles. Chemistry, Biology, Social Studies, and Economics) (WASSCE: A1-C6 and A - D).
II. Category B: Advanced Level Applicants
Applicants must have six Ordinary Level passes including Mathematics and English in addition to three Advanced Level passes including Biology, Economics, History, Geography, Agricultural Science and General Knowledge.
III. Category C: Mature applicants
Applicants must be at least 25 years by 1st September of the academic year of enrolment. Applicant must have five CREDIT passes in WASSCE/SSCE including three Core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science) and two passes in any two Elective subjects OR five CREDIT passes at the Ordinary Level including English Language and Mathematics. The applicants must also pass the Entrance Examinations for the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) General Aptitude Test (GAT) and the Subject Area Test (SAT) for the department.
IV. Category D: HND Holders
Applicants must have certificates in Hospitality Management and Catering, Textiles and Fashion with a minimum of a Second Class Lower Division and pass interviews conducted by the department. Successful applicants will start the programme from level 200.
V. Category E: Foreign Applicants
Foreign applicants from accredited institutions with equivalent qualifications will be considered for admission.
The Department committed in meeting the varying needs of the society has put up a new Bachelor of Education programme (Hospitality and Catering Management) with the Department of Food and Nutrition which is expected to roll out when accredited. Other programmes underway are Family Violence Management Education, and Social Welfare Services Education.
