Ph.D Biology Education

Applicants possessing the following qualifications may be admitted to the Doctor of Philosophy in Biology Education Programme:

1. MPhil or Research MSc in Biology Education. Such graduates will be admitted into Stream 1 of the Programme.
2. MPhil or Research MSc. in applied Biology such as Environmental Science Education, Agricultural Science Education, Applied Biological Science Education, and Science Education with limited Pure Biology Courses but with Education. Such graduates will be admitted to Stream 2a of the Programme.
3. MPhil or Research MSc. in Biology without education component but having education component at the undergraduate level of education, or Diploma in Education qualification. Such graduates will be admitted to Stream 2b of the Programme.
4. Foreign applicants with relevant Masters’ degrees from any recognized/accredited university may apply for the programme. Such students will have their certificate evaluated by GTEC. Students from countries where English is not the official language will require proof of English proficiency.

NOTE: All applicants at the time of application have to submit certified copies of all transcripts (undergraduate and MPhil), certified copies of certificates (undergraduate and MPhil), research proposal NOT more than four A4 size pages, motivation for PhD degree in Biology Education (NOT more than 3 A4 size pages) and report from two (2) referees.  The Department will scrutinize the attached documents to find out those who qualify to be admitted. Candidates who meet the admission requirements will be admitted into the programme. Admitted candidates will be notified in writing and informed of the stream which they are admitted to. Candidates are expected to produce their original documents for inspection after taking up the admission. The Programme will be regular full-time type.

Course duration

This is a regular Programme. Candidates will take minimum of three years to graduate.
