Prof. Duku Donates 75-Inch Interactive Panel to UEW Departments of Graphic Design and Art Education
Prof. Frimpong Kaakyire Duku, the Principal of the College for Distance and e-Learning (CODeL) at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has donated a cutting-edge 75-inch interactive panel worth US$2,500 to the Departments of Graphic Design and Art Education.
The donation, aimed at enhancing teaching and learning experiences, took place at the forecourt of the Department of Art Education, North Campus, UEW.
Prof. Duku, who lectures and was once a student in the beneficiary departments, expressed his commitment to advancing education through technology. The 75-inch interactive panel, he highlighted, can seamlessly connect to a laptop, function as a monitor, and, with a DSTV connection, transform into a versatile multimedia tool akin to a radio or TV. The panel, equipped with a control feature to limit users, also serves as a writable surface, adding a dynamic dimension to the learning environment.
During the presentation, Prof. Duku urged his colleagues in the faculty to follow suit to install similar panels in their lecture halls, fostering experiential learning across the university.
Dr. Cyril Kpodo, the Acting Head of the Department of Art Education, conveyed sincere gratitude on behalf of the two departments for the invaluable donation. He assured Prof. Duku that the equipment would be well-maintained, ensuring its longevity for the benefit of students and lecturers alike. Dr. Kpodo envisioned the interactive panel revolutionising graphic design instruction, aligning with the fast-paced changes in the world.
Highlighting the appropriateness of adopting high-tech resources for teaching and learning, Dr. Kpodo emphasised the transformative impact such technological interventions can have in preparing students for the evolving landscape. Lecturers and students from the Graphic Design and Art Education departments were present during the presentation ceremony, witnessing the tangible commitment to their educational journey.
The donation by Prof. Duku not only underscores the importance of technological advancement in education but also sets a commendable example for educators to actively contribute to the enrichment of learning environments through innovative means. UEW's Graphic Design and Art Education departments are now poised to embark on an exciting educational journey with the new interactive panel at the forefront of their instructional methodologies.
