UEW Students Showcase Artistic Talents at Inaugural Hybrid Art Exhibition
Level 300 Creative Arts students of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) took centre stage on Friday, 13th September, 2024, as they showcased their creative talents at the inaugural Hybrid Art Exhibition, which took place at the University’s Central Campus in Winneba.
The event, integrated visual arts, music, and theatre, creating a vibrant platform for expression and collaboration among the talented student body.
The exhibition, which provided a platform for students to display their artistic representations, reflected their socio-cultural backgrounds and personal experiences, featured various artworks, including stunning paintings, intricate paper designs, compelling graphics, detailed drawings, elegant jewellery, and striking sculptures. Each piece reflects the unique vision and skill of the students, inviting viewers to engage with the narratives behind the creations.
Mr. Robert Amo-Broni, a lecturer for the course “Creative Arts Projects and Exhibition,” expressed his excitement over the scale and ambition of the exhibition. “This is a monumental occasion for our university and students, often confined to classrooms and studios. We wanted to provide them with a stage to express their talents and engage with the community,” he stated during his opening remarks.
Mr. Amo-Broni indicated that the exhibits covered a variety of artworks and some employed an integration approach. "These artistic representations verify the true identity of the various student artists, elevating their socio-cultural background and what they truly experience in their home environment," he said.
The exhibition received a surprise visit from the Directorate of Quality Assurance team, led by Mrs. Shiella Appiah Kubi. The team was impressed by the students' outstanding work and emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship, especially among female students. "We urge these talented individuals to leverage hands-on programmes to become successful entrepreneurs, complementing their teaching profession," Mrs. Appiah Kubi remarked.
The exhibition's resounding success is a testament to the tireless dedication and expert guidance of lecturers Dr. George Asabre Maclean, Ms. Pat Nupkezah, and Mr. Robert Amo-Broni. Under their mentorship, students showcased exceptional artistic prowess, underscoring the School of Creative Arts' commitment to nurturing innovative talent.
The Hybrid Art Exhibition marked a significant milestone for the School of Creative Arts, showcasing the potential of its students and the effectiveness of its programmes. As UEW continues to nurture artistic innovation, this inaugural event sets a high standard for future exhibitions.
