UEW 29th Congregation: 1st Session Valedictorian Urges Fellow Graduates to Make a Difference

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), held its 29th Congregation, where Enoch Enyan, a strategic communication student, emerged as the 2024 valedictorian of the First Session Congregation with an impressive Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.96.

His speech inspired his fellow graduates to embrace their roles as future leaders and changemakers. As the 2023 president of the Communication Students Association (CoMSSA), Enyan drew from his rich personal experiences that shaped his journey through university. His address emphasised the values of perseverance and determination, encouraging graduates to harness their unique talents and diverse perspectives for the greater good.

"Combining the responsibilities of the presidency with academic work was extremely backbreaking, but with perseverance, I sailed through successfully. The world that awaits us is vast, complex, and ever-changing. It is a world filled with boundless opportunities, limitless possibilities, and infinite potential. And it is a world in desperate need of our unique talents, perspectives, and contributions," he asserted.

Enyan encouraged his fellow graduates to seize every opportunity to teach, grow, and make a difference in the lives of others. "Let us never forget the values of excellence, integrity, and compassion that have guided both staff and students on this incredible journey. Congratulations, Class of 2024! I am immensely proud to have shared this unforgettable experience with you all, and I do not doubt that the impact we will make in the world will be nothing short of extraordinary."

He urged his fellow graduates to set goals and strive to achieve them, emphasising the importance of determination and hard work. "I encourage you all to set goals and strive to achieve them. You shall surely be victorious with determination and God on your side," he said.

The valedictorian highlighted the importance of teamwork, citing the success of his study group, the Indomitable Group, which consisted of four members who all graduated with first-class honours. "The study group I belonged to, the Indomitable Group, was one of the most resilient and consistent groups on campus. Today, I am proud to say that all four members are graduating with first-class honours," he noted.

The best-graduating student shared his personal journey, highlighting the challenges he faced and the support he received from family, friends, and faculty members.

"I am extremely elated to be a part of this prestigious opportunity to take the floor at this momentous occasion to address you all as the valedictorian of this esteemed graduating class of 2024. As I stand before you today, I am filled with a sense of humility and pride. Humility because I am aware of the privilege that comes with standing here as the valedictorian of this noble university, and pride because I am deeply honoured to represent the achievements of my fellow classmates who have worked assiduously to reach this milestone," he said.

The ceremony was a celebration of the graduates' hard work and achievements, and it marked the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. As they go forth into the world, they carry with them the values of excellence, integrity, and compassion that have guided them throughout their academic journey.

Enoch Enyan's compelling message of hope and action resonated, urging them to leverage their education to make a lasting impact. The First Session of the 29th Congregation of UEW stands as a testament to the power of education and the potential of young leaders to shape the future.
