The triumphant team of the prestigious Graphic Tertiary Business Sense Challenge v5.0., from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has ceremoniously handed over its well-earned trophy to the Management of the university.

The seven-member team that proudly carried the banner of UEW high consisted of key figures such as Mr. Samuel Gameli Gadzo, who served as the Head Coach, and Mr. Abass Adam and Mr. Marcus Tetteh Obuadey, valuable members of the Coaching Team. Ms. Matilda Appenteng contributed her expertise as the team's Researcher. The stars of the show, who secured the victory, were the indomitable Mr. James Nana Ofori, Mr. Simon Ahlidza, and Mr. Success Fiadufe Defor.

In a ceremony held on Tuesday, October 25, 2023, the victorious UEW team led by the Dean of the School of Business (SoB), UEW, Dr. Richard Oduro, presented the coveted trophy, the cash prize, and other impressive awards to the University's Management at the Council Chamber, North Campus, Winneba.

In a thrilling competition that featured thirty-five tertiary business universities from across Ghana, UEW proved its mettle by defeating two-time champions, the University of Cape Coast (UCC), and the defending champions, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in its first-ever appearance in the finals of the competition. UEW secured an astounding 67.9 points, marking the highest score in the history of the competition's final. UCC followed closely with 51 points, earning them the second position, while KNUST secured 49.6 points, claiming the third position.

The prize-winning Dean expressed heartfelt gratitude to the University Management for their constant support, encouragement, and motivational words that contributed to their success. They shared their pride in making UEW the best Business School in Ghana.

The Principals of the two colleges within UEW, Prof. Dominic Danso Mensah and Prof. Frimpong Kaakyire Duku, expressed optimism about the positive impact of the team's achievement on the university and stressed that the team's success is a collective success for the entire university.

This victory not only marks a historic moment for UEW but also reinforces the institution's reputation as a leading educational hub in Ghana. With unwavering support from the University Administration and a team of dedicated students, UEW has set a new standard for excellence in business education. As they look to the future, the champions are determined to maintain their position at the forefront of academia.

A total of 35 tertiary business universities from across Ghana, divided into the Northern, Middle, and Southern zones, participated in the competition. During the initial phases of the event, UEW engaged in fierce competition within the Middle Zone, commencing on 14th July, 2023, hosted by Koforidua Technical University. Despite narrowly losing to UCC in the Middle Zone final, UEW secured its spot as the first runner-up university, thus earning qualification for the national championship.

The National Championship, involving a select group of twelve universities, commenced on the 29th August, 2023. During the quarter-finals, UEW was paired against the Accra Technical University (ATU). Demonstrating their exceptional prowess, UEW amassed a commanding 85.5 points, significantly surpassing ATU's 23 points, thereby securing a comfortable position in the semi-finals. Their exceptional performance in the quarter-finals marked them as the university with the highest scores in this stage of the competition.

On the 1st September, 2023, UEW advanced to the semi-finals, where they faced the formidable University of Ghana (UG). Once again, UEW showcased its excellence by emerging victorious with an impressive score of 75.3 points, surpassing UG's 52.4 points. This triumph secured UEW's place in the grand finale, reaffirming their status as the university with the highest scoring points during the semi-finals.

The climax of this thrilling journey occurred on the 21st October, 2023, at TV3 Studio B in Accra, as UEW competed in the grand finale. In a remarkable display of knowledge and strategic acumen, UEW faced off against formidable opponents in UCC and KNUST. The grand finale witnessed UEW delivering an unforgettable and resounding performance, cementing their well-deserved victory, and further enhancing their reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the academic world.
