SRC Rolls Out Operation Clean UEW Project Across Campuses
The Student Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has commenced the implementation of its Operation Clean UEW Project across all university campuses.
This initiative aims to promote environmental cleanliness, support institutional sanitation efforts and foster a culture of shared responsibility among students. Â
The exercise, which began on Wednesday, 22nd July, 2026, follows the launch of several student centred development projects by the SRC on Friday, 5th June, 2026, at the forecourt of the Students Centre. The projects include the deployment of dustbins and CD wash stations across the University's campuses to improve waste management and hygiene.
The initiative, spearheaded by Mr. Ebenezer Annobil, the SRC President and his Executive has mobilised students to participate in deep-cleaning exercises to create a cleaner, healthier and more conducive environment for teaching and learning while supporting the University's environmental sustainability agenda.
Speaking at the launch of the projects, Prof. Esther Yeboah Danso-Wiredu, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, commended the SRC for demonstrating leadership through practical interventions that directly benefit the University community.
She, however, urged the student leadership to ensure that the initiative evolves into a lasting tradition rather than a one-time exercise.
Prof. Esther Danso-Wiredu emphasised that the Operation Clean UEW Project should not become "a nine-day wonder" but should be institutionalised for successive SRC administrations to continue annually in support of the University's sanitation drive.
She expressed the hope that dedicating a day each year to deep cleaning activities would deepen students' sense of ownership of the University environment while reinforcing a sustained culture of cleanliness and environmental responsibility across all campuses.
The implementation of the Operation Clean UEW Project marks a significant step in the SRC's commitment to improving student welfare, advancing environmental sustainability and supporting the University's broader efforts to maintain clean, safe and welcoming campuses.
