MPhil in Communication Instruction
Description
This MPhil Communication Instruction programme is designed to equip prospective students with the required skills and qualification to take positions as lecturers in Communication Skills, Academic Writing and any other communicated and language related courses at the Universities, Colleges of Education, Colleges of Health, and other tertiary institution.
The MPhil Communication Instruction programme is in two categories:
- MA students of the Department of Communication Instruction who have made a GCPA of 3.0 and have been transitioned into the MPhil Communication Instruction programme.
- Holders of MA degree in Communication Instruction or Communication and Media Studies from the University of Education, Winneba, or any communication and language related programme from any other accredited or recognized university who require an MPhil Top-Up degree.
Prospects/Career Options
Graduates of the MPhil programme will be able to enter the job market as communication skills/Academic Writing educators and researchers in higher educational institutions. Graduates of the programme can work in the following organisations to build their careers in the following sectors of the economy:
- Universities, Nurses Training Institutions, and Colleges of Education as lecturers of Communication Skills/ Academic Writing and other communication related courses.
- Publishing Companies as manuscript reviewers and proof-readers
- Media Houses as manuscript editors, journalistic writers and proof-readers
- National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) as manuscript reviewers and proofreaders of educational materials.
Entry Requirement
To be admitted to the MPhil (Top-up) in Communication Instruction programme, the applicant;
- Must have obtained an MA in Communication Instruction, or MA in Communication and Media Studies from the School of Communication and Media Studies, University of Education, Winneba or any approved or recognised university.
- Must have obtained an MA in any communication and language related programme from any approved or recognised university.
- Foreign applicants with equivalent qualifications from any accredited or recognized institution can also apply. However, such applicants must submit their certificates to GTEC for evaluation before they could be considered for admission.
