Department of English Education Equips its Lecturers
The Department of English Education has organised a day’s workshop on pre-internship for level 300 students for its lecturers.
The workshop aimed to update and equip lecturers on teaching methodology to help student-teachers to also go and impart their students when on internship, took place on Tuesday, 18th May, 2021, at the Faculty of Social Science Education, North Campus, Winneba.
Speaking at the workshop, the Head of Department (HOD), English Education, Mr. Richard Bampoh-Addo, said the programme was to groom lecturers towards the level 300 Students’ internship.
“As a preparation towards the internship for the next semester, we all know that teaching is both theoretical and practical. Since the theory has already been given, now they need to practicalise it and so beginning this semester and for the next couple of weeks, every lecturer will call students they will manage for discussion,” he said.
He further stated that the student would be doing individual teaching along with group teaching. This he stated was in preparation for their internship. He also made participants appreciate the various aspect of the English language and what they ought to do at each stage. He revealed that the intention of the Department for this calendar year is to make workshops a prominent feature.
The resource persons for the workshop were, the Vice-Dean of Student Affairs, UEW, Dr. Juliana Daniels; Lecturers in the Department of English Education, Ms. Harriet Osei, Ms. Michelle Debrah and Mr. Benjamin Ofori Yeboah.
