Stephen Osei Akyiaw is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Strategic Communication, School of Communication and Media Studies, University of Education, Winneba, Central Region - Ghana. Stephen was a Lecturer at the Department of Graphic Design at University of Education, Winneba from February 2018 to September 2022.
Stephen has over fourteen (14) years of Industry-Experience in the field of Graphic Design, Advertising and Entrepreneurship. The interest of bridging industry and academia is paramount to Stephen.
As a Critical Educator, Stephen loves to involve his students in the day to day teaching and learning activities. Developing students to meet the industry required skills and competencies are what drive Stephen on as an Academic. Students are involved in hands-on industry projects to help them develop, and also understand the demands of the industry.
Stephen holds a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design and a Master of Philosophy Degree in Communication and Media Studies (Business Communication Option). Stephen is currently a PhD Candidate pursuing Arts and Culture at the University of Education, Winneba. As part of Stephen's PhD studies, Stephen won an Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Grant to attend a 4-months PHD Exchange programme at the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland.
Stephen is a member of The International Society for Education through Arts (InSEA) and Arts Teachers Association of Ghana (ATAG). Stephen is a Graphic Designer, Advertiser and a Strategic Communicator.
