UEW Holds Workshop for Administrative and Clerical Staff
A two day workshop on effective filing and office management was held on the 12th -14th February, 2018 for Administrative and Clerical Staff of University of Education, Winneba. The workshop, which brought together Administrators and Clerks of various Faculties, Departments, Divisions and all recognised offices in the Institution was aimed at informing, educating and introducing the participants to contemporary advanced filling systems and Office Management.
Mr Emmanuel Asafo, the University Archivist in his presentation noted that, in filing documents, there was the need to classify subjects in the office by using numeric, alpha numeric, subject and subject numeric labels. In addition, he mentioned that effective office management practices requires the designing of an efficient filing system including cross referencing, use of red-ink under the number folio as well as opening a dispatch and recipient note book.
He urged participants to carefully execute the above mentioned practices in order to help them manage their offices effectively and efficiently thereby acquainting themselves with modern best practices. He added that it was very important for information generated from various offices to be well managed and retrieved without challenges
The participants expressed their appreciation to the organisers and assured them of their determination to put what they had learnt into practice. However participants appealed to Management for support and adequate resources in order to facilitate their work.
