“Your Coming to UEW is the best Professional Decision” – Vice-Chancellor
The Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni has commended the 2019/2020 fresh undergraduate and postgraduate regular students for deciding to pursue higher learning at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).
He assured them of acquiring knowledge that would undoubtedly empower them to become the most competent, effective and efficient instruments as a result of government’s efforts at transforming the nation.

The Vice-Chancellor made these remarks on Wednesday, 11th September, 2019 at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba during an Intensive Pre-Academic Orientation organised by the Office of Dean of Student Affairs (ODSA) for the fresh students.
“UEW is the only University in Ghana with the core mandate to train professional educators capable of spearheading a new national vision aimed at redirecting the country’s efforts along the path of rapid economic and social development. Your coming to this University is therefore the best professional decision,” the Vice-Chancellor emphasised.

Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni urged them to be diligent, focused and resolute in all that they do as they pursue their dreams and avail themselves to the new opportunities that the UEW had to offer.
The Dean, ODSA, Dr. Ernest Kwasi Amponsah assured the freshmen of an exclusive communal ambience to enable them navigate their ways through the exciting journey of learning and discovery.

“The Office of Dean of Students Affairs is one of the strategic outfits of the University and we need your partnership to collaboratively inspire our minds for possibilities and to function more efficiently and effectively, all for student benefits,” the Dean of ODSA stated.
The orientation offered the freshmen information on extensive range of topics and opportunities to make them informed students as well as, well motivated persons to begin independent University life.

There were presentations by various facilitators including the Dean, School of Graduate Studies, Prof. George Kankam; Director, Quality Assurance, Prof. Yaw Ameyaw; Finance Officer, Mr. Francis Obeng; Ag. Director, Health Services, Dr. Beth Offei-Awuku; Chairman, Amalgamated Sports Club, Dr. Kwame Kyere Diabour; Head, Department of Special Education, Dr. Daniel Dogbe; Director, UEW Wind Band, Mr. George Asabere Maclean; University Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Alexander Edwards; Head, Examinations Unit, Division of Academic Affairs, Mrs. Ekua Abedi-Boafo; University Librarian, Mr. Viscount B. Buer; Head, Department of Graphic Design, Dr. Ebenezer Acquah and Deputy Registrar, Academic Affairs, Mr. Collins Owusu-Ansah.
The presentations were respectively on the topics “Procedures and Coordination of Programmes at School of Graduate Studies, Quality Assurance: The Role of the Student, UEW Scholarship Scheme, Health Services, Recreation and Sports, Persons with Disability, UEW Anthem, Religious and Social Life on Campus, Challenges and Opportunities for Fresh Students, Library in Tertiary Education, UEW Crest, Procedures for Online Registration of Courses”.
Attendance was extremely encouraging as the 2,500 seat auditorium was filled to capacity.
